Cookie Policy

What cookies this website uses. The short answer: one, and only for staff signing in to the admin area.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Cookies are commonly used to keep you signed in, to remember preferences, and — on many sites — to track what you do across the web for advertising.

What this site uses

One cookie, and it is not set for members of the public.

When a member of Phonate staff signs in to the internal admin area, we set a session cookie so the site knows they are signed in for the rest of that session. If you have never signed in to the admin area, this site sets no cookies in your browser at all.

There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no tag manager, and no third-party tracking pixels on this website.

Your theme preference

If you switch the site between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site does not flip back on your next visit.

That is not a cookie: it is never sent to our servers, and we cannot read it. It stays in your browser until you clear your browsing data.

Managing cookies

Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block them. The controls are usually under Settings, then Privacy or Site permissions.

Because this site sets no cookies for ordinary visitors, blocking them will not affect anything you can do here. Blocking them will stop staff signing in to the admin area.

If this changes

This page describes the site as it actually is today. Adding analytics, a chat widget, an embedded map or an embedded video would introduce cookies, and this page — and a consent banner and footer preference control, where consent is required — would need to change at the same time.
